The Naandi Social Rehabilitation Centre

Once a person with a Spinal Cord Injury or Stroke is discharged from the hospital, there is little or no facilities in their communities to provide rehabilitation and support.

In Karnataka, there are only four organisations that cater to the post-hospitalisation needs of PSCIs and Stroke patients. Samarthya is one of these. As a result, we have documented that the residential services at NSRC have been accessed by PSCIs from 16 districts in Karnataka and by people from Telengana.

NSRC is located on NH 50, at a small junction known as Hosur Cross. This is between Budhgumpa and Kushtagi.

NSRC provides structured rehabilitation that is customised to individual needs at its facility in Hosur Cross, off NH 50, to enable and empower PSCIs with information, physiotherapy, paramedical support, independent living skills, aids and appliances, environmental adaptations and linkage with social security benefits.

The facility can accommodate 20+20 affected persons and carers over a 3-month residential programme that equips both the PSCI and Stroke patient and their carers to live independently once they go back home. We now also accept women with SCIs and Stroke.

While NSRC charges for this residential service, we also raise donations for those who cannot afford this fee. While we undertake 4 batches every year, paucity of resources means that sometimes all the beds are not occupied.

Vihaar Dham

The Naandi centre has been hosting Jain monks and nuns who walk from place to place in their travels across the country since its inception in 2013.

Vihaar Dham is a programme run by the Jain International Trade Organisation (JITO) to build resting spots for monks and nuns from their community in their respective regions.

The Hosapete branch of JITO reached out to us to ask if they could build a Vihaar Dham at the Naandi centre on NH50. When not in use by their travelling monks and nuns, it will be open for use by the centre for its patients and guests.

This Vihaar Dham was inaugurated on 24th Oct 2025. The building was donated by Smt Dharmibai Saremalji, Sakariya Pariwar, through Roopa Agencies Pvt Ltd, Hosapete.
